Tired of nasal congestion and sinus headaches? Do you think you are suffering from Chronic Rhinosinusitis or CRS?

What is Chronic Rhinosinusitis?
CRS is a condition where the membrane lining the nasal sinuses is continually inflamed (more than 12 weeks) due to allergies or infection caused by a virus, bacteria or fungus. When the sinuses are inflamed they become red, puffy and block the normally open passageways. This condition prevents proper ventilation and drainage of mucus allowing harmful pathogens to collect and infect the sinus tissues. Contributing factors to recurrent infections are nasal polyps and irregular or deviated septum.

Common Symptoms of CRS:

  • Nasal Congestion

  • .

  • Sinus Headache

  • .

  • Head and Face pain

  • .

  • Decreased sense of smell

  • .

  • Fatigue

  • .

  • Post-Nasal Drip: thick nasal secretions that are yellow, green or blood tinged

  • .

  • Cough that may be more severe at night.

Are you always on oral antibiotics to treat your sinus infection?
A recent meta-analysis in the March 15th, 2008, issue of The Lancet questions the efficacy of oral antibiotics in almost all cases of adult rhinosinusitus. Basically the study shows that the majority of antibiotics being prescribed are not curing the infection any faster than just waiting it out.

A September 2002 article for the Ear, Nose and Throat Journal examined the effectiveness of topically applied antibiotics for Rhinosinusitus. Following 3 to 6 weeks of treatment, 82.9% experienced either an excellent or good response to treatment. The study concluded that nebulized antibiotics should be considered for all patients with chronic sinusitis who have undergone functional endoscopic sinus surgery and who have failed to respond to oral antibiotics or who do not tolerate them.

Our Nasal Nebulizers are a perfect way to topically apply medications directly to the nasal passages. This method of inhaling nebulized medication delivers powerful topical medications across the nasal and oropharygeal mucus membranes and to the infected tissue to fight inflammation and infection.

Advantages of the Nasal Nebulizer:

  • Administer the Exact dosage and volume prescribed by your physician unlike the over-the-counter sprays

  • .

  • Fine mist-like spray that is consistent and reliable

  • .

  • Direct contact with the affected areas

  • .

  • Variety of medications that can be administered

  • .

  • Semi-permeable soft plug absorbs runoff

  • .

  • Contoured tip designed for adult and child’s nose

  • .

  • Works in any position

  • .

  • Longer infection-free period than standard therapy

  • .

  • Easy to use and clean

  • .
